Welcome to the official website of 2004 Olympic Team
member and 2006 NCAA National Champion Courtney Kupets! Courtney is a two-time
USAG National All-Around Champion and
a two-time World Championships gold medallist who fought back from a
potentially career-ending injury in the summer of 2004 in order to make the
Athens Olympic team. She was training for the team
finals competition at the 2003 World Championships in Anaheim, California, when
she tore her Achilles and was forced to withdraw from the rest of the
competition.
After months of grueling
physical therapy and intense training, she is now back and better than ever! She
proved herself by tying Carly Patterson for her second National title and by
winning the Olympic Trials in the same arena where she tore her Achilles. At the
Olympic Games, Courtney earned a silver medal with the USA team, and berths to
the all-around, bars, and beam finals! In the uneven bar final, Courtney earned
herself an individual bronze medal. Now she is living the busy life of a
student-athlete at the University of Georgia where she competes for the defending
national championship gymnastics team. In her first season as a GymDawg,
Courtney earned 35 first place finishes, 40 scores of 9.900 or higher, the SEC
Freshman of the Year award, and four NCAA National titles!
