February 19, 2006: The GymDawgs continue to roll through the rest of the competition as they easily defeated an injury-ridden #9 UCLA team this weekend at home. The Gymdawgs won by over two points, 197.525 - 195.200!

Courtney herself had a career high all-around total of 39.650 that earned her first place. She started out the night on vault, where she was the 2nd the last gymnast in the lineup. Her 9.925 with the tiniest shuffle on the landing gave her 2nd place on the event! On bars she was amazing and scored a 9.950 as the last gymnast to go, placing her 1st on that event! Her beam was crisp and clean for a 9.900 and another second place finish. Unfortunately a stumble on her double pike dismount on floor prevented her from getting another 9.9+ plus score as she received a 9.875 for 3rd.

Courtney was also the SEC Gymnast of the Week for the 2nd time this year after winning the all-around against Alabama and Oklahoma. Good luck at Auburn!

August 19, 2004: Courtney competed last night in the individual all-around, despite her injured hamstring. She ended up placing 9th with a 37.112!

She started the night off on vault, where she did a beautiful Podkopayeva with one step for a 9.275. Next she went to bars where she was nearly perfect as usual, with just a step on the landing for a 9.625! On beam she nearly fell on her tour jete 1/2 but somehow managed to keep one foot on the beam at all times but she was deducted heavily and was given an 8.975. By the time she competed on floor, she knew she would not be able to medal and just decided to enjoy the experience. She scored a 9.237 despite a step out of bounds. Courtney's teammate Carly Patterson had the meet of her life and won the gold medal, becoming the USA's 2nd Olympic Champion! Congratulations USA!

August 17, 2004: Courtney and the rest of her US teammates are now Olympic silver medalists! The US team finished second to Romania, 114.283-113.584. Courtney contributed to the team on bars in a big way with a 9.662, pushing the USA ahead of Romania after the second rotation. But unfortunately Courtney was suffering from an injured hamstring and could not compete on beam, deciding to save herself for floor. Unfortunately she had problems on a new dance combination (double turn, tuck jump double).

"It's a medal from the Olympics and that's an accomplishment," Courtney told the press. "No one should be disappointed. You know, a silver isn't bad at all and we're still happy."

August 15, 2004: Courtney had an awesome day of competition during team prelims! She placed 4th overall with a total of 37.937 and will be advancing to the all-around final on August 19th. Courtney's 9.550 on beam was the 7th highest score there and she will join Carly Patterson in the event final on August 23rd. She scored a 9.350 on vault and a 9.400 on floor (19th). Visit Yahoo's gymnastics page for full results.

July 2, 2004: Photos from Trials have been added!

June 28, 2004: Returning to the same arena in Anaheim, California, where she tore her Achilles ten months ago, Courtney showed no signs of her injury and won the Olympic Trials! She and Courtney McCool (2nd) were named to the 2004 Olympic Team based on their performances! "I feel like I came here and did what I wanted to do. I couldn't imagine coming here and placing first. It is so exciting," Courtney said after the meet.

Courtney started night one with a beautiful Podkopayeva vault, taking just one step (9.375). Her bar routine was nearly perfect, capping it off with a stuck landing (9.675) and her beam was also clean (9.600). The event where Courtney was most impressive on was floor. She did not tumble like a gymnast who sustained such a serious injury less than a year ago! She threw a double layout, double arabian, double pike, and her front tumbling pass (front 1/1, front layout) with great landings on each pass (9.425) to finish her competition. Courtney's total of 38.075 was the highest total of the day; she placed 1st on bars, 2nd on beam, 3rd on floor, and 6th on vault.

Night two wasn't much different! Her bar routine was nearly identical to night one (9.625) but beam had a few more bobbles (9.525). She had so much power on her double arabian that she bounded out of bounds (9.225) but showed another clean Podkopayeva (9.300) to finish with a total of 37.675. Her total from both days was a 75.750. With each day's event standings combined, Courtney placed 8th on vault, 1st on bars, 2nd on beam, and 6th on floor! Congratulations on an excellent meet!

Although Courtney was named to the team, she must still prove her competitive form at the Olympic Selection Camp, July 10th-18th, in New Waverly, Texas. The other gymnasts who were selected for the camp were Courtney McCool, Mohini Bhardwaj, Annia Hatch, Terin Humphrey, Allyse Ishino, Carly Janiga, Carly Patterson, Tasha Schwikert, Liz Tricase, Hollie Vise, and Tabitha Yim. Chellsie Memmel, Marcia Newby, and Nicole Harris petitioned to the camp and will also be competing. The additional four members of the team will be anounced live on NBC on July 18th!

June 7, 2004: Not only did Courtney become the national champion on beam but she also successfully defended her all-around title when she tied Carly Patterson on Saturday night!

During prelims/event finals, Courtney started cleanly on bars for a 9.600 (2nd) and then went on to nail her beam routine for a 9.725 (1st). Her new floor routine was a hit with the crowd and the judges for a 9.425 (4th) and her Podkopayeva vault was clean for a 9.400 (9th); her total of 38.225 was the highest of the night! "Tonight I just wanted to compete and be consistent. I had a long struggle with my Achilles and am glad it is better."

For all-around finals, Courtney started on beam but that didn't stop her from scoring the highest score of the meet - a 9.800! After scoring a 9.400 on floor and vault, she was .350 behind Carly Patterson. After Carly's vault that scored a 9.250, Courtney needed a 9.600 to share the gold and that is exactly what she got! "I'm just proud I've gotten through two days of competition. What a wonderful way to win this, to tie with somebody who's your friend! This win is a little sweeter since I came off an injury!"

By placing in the top 12, Courtney is automatically qualified to both Olympic Trials and the US National Team. The other Trials qualifiers were Carly Patterson, Terin Humphrey, Courtney McCool, Allyse Ishino, Liz Tricase, Tabitha Yim, Tia Orlando, Tasha Schwikert, Nicole Harris, Carly Janiga, and Mohini Bhardwaj. Ashley Postell and Katie Heenan, who finished 13th and 14th, also made the National Team.

"It was important to me to get in good all-around competition like this before going to the Visa U.S. Championships in 10 days. I felt good on all four events, and I know there's areas I need to improve before Championships and Trials. But I feel that I'm on pace to compete well this summer."
