Hi everyone!

March and April were very exciting and busy months! The Gymnix competition in Canada was so much fun. I had a rough first day with a fall on the beam and a bar routine that I am trying to get out of my memory forever. I don't think I have ever been so embarrassed and mad at myself. I was shocked and so grateful to have made it to event finals on bars and I was not going to let what happened the first day happen again. Day two was much better and I was so happy that I hit my bar routine. We didn't get a lot of time to see Canada but I loved all of the old buildings and I even got to use some of my French which gave me extra credit in my French class.

I didn't have much time back in the gym before it was time to go to training camp again. Camp didn't go very well for me this time with a fall on my Onodi on beam and a fall on my dismount on bars. I don't know why but my energy was really low and I couldn't make a full bar routine (mostly the dismount) the whole time at camp So I couldn't even believe it when I found out I made it to the Pacific Alliance in Hawaii after such a terrible camp. I had to take out my German giants on bars so that I had enough energy in my arms to land the dismount. I was a little disappointed in myself for that but I was able to land them. I had a good beam routine and got so excited after my last pass that I was not concentrating on my dismount. When I went to punch I knew I was off and I pulled my legs hard to rotate. I was so angry when I felt my butt hit the ground! I felt like I let my team down and I knew after that fall I would not get an all around medal and I wanted so bad to be on the awards podium in front of my dad. I knew I had to do well on the three other events. Floor went alright but after seeing videos of it, I was not happy with my presentation. I made it to vault, bars and floor event finals and did o.k. I think the scores were too high especially for my bar routine but I know not to expect those scores at the next competition.

I had a lot of support over there. My dad, my old coach and her kids came to watch and my friends Paula, Sam, Lauren and Savana came all the way from California! I know I say this after each competition but, this was definitely the best one! I am so proud of my teammates Shawn, Bianca and Becca! You guys are awesome! The seniors were incredible too! It was so much fun to be there with all of us together. We all spent the last day shopping and hanging out on the beach. We couldn't go in the ocean because it was polluted from the storms but it was a lot of fun anyway. I really miss Hawaii and can't wait to go back.

Well, I am back at gym and training hard to get ready for another camp in May and maybe another assignment. I have been working on getting my full in my beam routine and my German giants back in my bar routine. I have been working double layouts off bars as a temporary fix to my ugly double front. I have also started to flip the hecht part of the Ma dismount which has given me permanent bruises on my hips and thighs that will look great this summer in a bathing suit lol. I may try to use this dismount instead. I am waiting to put my new beam mount and some other skills in my routines until they are 100% consistent because I don't want to fall and have them taken out permanently. I have a bunch more skills that I am playing around with but who knows if they will ever become anything. I am having a lot of fun in the gym training them though. My double layout is almost ready to take to the real floor, I started catching a new low bar release and I am working a new beam dismount and landed my first one yesterday!

I came home to a bunch of sweet letters and even a package of new yarn and it felt so nice to have so much support. Between catch-up homework and gym, I am slowly writing back :) Everyone has been so nice to me and I appreciate all of your support.

Aloha,
Tessa
